Chapter 4
Confusion warred with joy as Medjed listened to his mate explain about what she was and where she came from. A Christmas Elf? But that must mean she worked for the fiendish San Ta Claws. He could not wrap his head around that, as this woman was clearly all things good and pure in the world.
One thing she said, however rang true above all else. She was his mate. He was certain of that.
âYes,â he responded, âand you have found me, rohi.â
Her story rang with truth, though he did not know anything about villages or Elves and he did not trust the man called San Ta. But his confusion was irrelevant as he was very much aware that his entire body seemed wholly attentive to her.
A fire was building inside of him, and her name was stamped all over it. Nothing could stop him from claiming her, he decided, no one and no circumstance.
Medjed wanted Candy, and finally, he understood the lyrics to the 1980s song Heliodore Wessex was so fond of. And his Candy was already wrapped in a sweater! One he could not wait to remove, he admitted to himself as his gaze swept over her once more.
Her cranberry evergreen scent was intoxicating as it was refreshing and he could almost taste her now. Sweet and wholesome, and entirely his.
His cock throbbed inside of his wintry attire and Medjed wished he were back in his home country where the sun warmed the sand under his feet and he could lay his lady down to bed and mate her.
âI like the snow,â her soft whispery voice reached his ears like a symphonic melody composed just to tease his senses.
âAre you reading my mind now, rohi?â
âThat word, what does it mean?â
âIt is a pet name, a term of endearment, and it means my soul, and you are that, sweet mate,â he reached out a hand and traced the side of her face from her arched brow to the small cleft in her chin.
âThis is fast,â she said.
âYes, and yet it seems I have waited an eternity to touch you since I first laid eyes on you, rohi,â he leaned closer and all pretense of patience fled his mind.
Medjed could feel his powers stirring, that immortal part of him that was sometimes Demon sometimes Demigod wanted this woman and he wanted her now.
The wind howled outside the cave and the storm raged, but inside they were safe. Inside they were warm, cradled by Geb and blanketed by Nut. Earth and Sky combined to shelter them. The fire that heâd kindled, the water heâd melted from the snow, all the elements represented there and combined to make the moment sacred.
âIs that good then?â She whispered and he almost lost his mind.
âYes, rohi. Very good,â he leaned down and captured her lips with his and it was like a thousand stars exploded and winked in and out of existence.
The kiss took on a life of its own as clothing was removed and tossed carelessly into a pile.
